  • JOB SUMMARY


    Quality / Manufacturing Engineering Lead is a critical technical function within Supply Chain organization at Omniva and is responsible for Quality, Reliability, Manufacturing Test Development, Safety & Regulatory Compliance and Product Engineering (ECR/ECN/BOM) functions, for products manufactured in our supply chain. The scope of this role includes developing these functions across NPI (design and development), sustaining manufacturing post NPI across end-to-end manufacturing process which starts with our component suppliers, includes product integration at our electronics manufacturers/mechanical manufacturers, and culminates in data center build-out and operations through end of product life.

    This leader’s team members serve as key interface with Product Design Engineering teams and Supply Chain Procurement teams and leads the analysis of “critical to quality” features followed by an effective means of controlling these features throughout the manufacturing and operations processes. At the New Product Introduction (NPI) phase of product introduction this role is responsible for developing Reliability Demonstration Test Plans, developing effective Manufacturing Test solutions (L6 to L11), conducting Design for Manufacturing (DFM), Failure Modes Effects Analysis (FMEA) & Safety/Regulatory compliance reviews, and providing feedback to Design Engineering teams and vendors for improvement.

    This role will also develop and maintain Product BOMs through a well-structured ECN process. This role will collaborate with Engineering & Suppliers to ensure Product’s/Parts’ technical details are accurately captured in the BOM (Technical data sheets, supplier part numbers, critical to quality attributes etc). Estimates manufacturing costs and makes recommendations for tooling and process requirements of new or existing product lines. This role shall develop KPIs for all the functions listed above and effective means to collect, analyze pertinent data for continuous improvement of these KPIs.

  • KEY RESPONSIBILITIES


    • Design and Develop the Manufacturing Engineering Organization with clear mission and goals.
    • Hire, coach and develop a high-performance team to handle the functions of Quality, Testing, Reliability, Safety-Regulatory Compliance and BOM management.
    • Define KPIs for all functions and establish necessary tools/processes needed to monitor/improve.
    • Guide Design Engineering and Sourcing functions to select appropriate suppliers with the right qualifications to meet expectations and timeline.
    • Lead design review and ensure manufacturing needs are considered in the design phase, making sure that proper quality & compliance expectations are defined. Work with suppliers on all design technical elements and create new manufacturing techniques if necessary to meet design requirements.
    • Work with Suppliers and Design Engineering to determine product specifications and tolerances. Establish criteria for Part Inspection Standards based on product specification and process critical requirements.
    • Manage supplier’s DFM reviews, PFMEAs and take proactive methods to minimize any potential risks of defects in the manufacturing.
    • Interact with design engineering team and suppliers to define and develop detailed Quality Plan that includes Fit test, Incoming inspection, and Outgoing Quality Control.
    • Determine reliability requirements of components and systems to achieve company, customer, and any governmental agency reliability objectives. Develop (or validate supplier’s) Reliability Demonstration Test (RDT) plans.
    • Determine quality improvement parameters through statistical methods relevant to manufacturing and/or repair processes.
    • Develop new acceleration models and tools to assure early identification of potential issues (failure modes) with new products, processes, and packaging.
    • Design, fabricate and validate manufacturing process equipment, fixtures and methodologies that control the “critical to quality” features for new products as well as closing the gaps in defect prevention for existing products.
    • Manage supplier performance. perform supplier audits and site inspections. Develop process improvement plans and drive implementation. Monitor and maintain performance metrics.
    • Review failure analysis reports to identify supplier weak points and suggest new corrective action. Investigate supplier quality issues to determine root cause, identify and implement corrective actions, drive long-term preventative actions.
    • Define incoming parts inspections procedure as needed. Track build issues and drive suppliers for containment actions and long-term actions.
    • Responsible for coordinating all activities between the Engineering and EMS/Suppliers, including delivering design documents, creating build schedules, and monitoring progress.
    • Responsible for Driving and Tracking all internal ECRs and EMS-PCN activities.
  • ESSENTIAL REQUIREMENTS


    • BS/MS in Engineering (EE, ME, E&C, IE).
    • 15+ years’ experience, in creating, managing and coaching strong teams overseeing PCBA & Mechanical Parts Manufacturing EMS.
    • Ability to understand the high-level picture and apply systems thinking to generate solutions.
    • Working knowledge of common manufacturing process defects in stainless steel sheet metal process (forming/bending/shearing etc.,) , welding process, wiring harnesses/bus bars assembly, electrical interconnects/sockets, plastic molding etc.
    • Excellent analytical abilities, technical writing ability, and comprehensive understanding of quality toolbox (SPC, DOE, GD&T, Cp/Cpk, statistical analysis etc.); Hands-on and data driven.
    • Must have demonstrated ability to work effectively with third party test houses to deliver integrated solutions.
    • Must possess strong communication skills and effectively work in a team environment.
    • Strong strategic aptitude: proven ability to define a winning business strategy and product roadmap and gain buy-in from stakeholders at all levels.
    • Be able to work independently and make decisions in the best interest business.
  • PREFFERED QUALIFICATIONS


    • Experience in Immersion Cooling technology will be a huge positive.
    • Certification preferred – American Society for Quality’s Certified Quality Engineer, Certified Reliability Engineer, Six Sigma Black Belt, etc.
    • Speaking level fluency in German or Chinese or both will be nice to have.

    This role will be based out of Seattle or Santa Clara, CA.
